Carlos Ranc's work looks for ways to find new significance in everyday surroundings. His most recent work functions in a similar way to the ubiquitous pornographic images on the internet. The artist downloads these images and manipulates them, making evident the inherent contradictions between the intimate and the body as object or stage. Ranc produced a unique piece for Emerging using intimate images donated to him by each of the other artists involved in the exhibition. With these, he created a wallpaper sample book which the audience were invited to browse through at their own discretion in intimate surroundings.
